Bulldog volleyball schedule for 2012 revealed – Volleyball news
The University of Georgia Volleyball Programme announced the 2012 schedule on Tuesday, May 29.
The Head coach of the University of Georgia women’s volleyball team, Lizzy Stemke, confirmed the news. Stemke was thrilled to announce the 2012 Bulldog volleyball schedule.
She stated, “We have an exciting preseason to begin the year with our home invitational which includes three southeast teams as well as a bit of an international event with the inclusion of a professional Serbian team exhibition match.”
She further added, “We will then have two more great tournaments lined up at Florida State and Michigan State before gearing up for the new SEC schedule. With the addition of Texas A&M and Missouri the SEC will have even more exciting volleyball every weekend!”
According to the recently released schedule, the Bulldogs will kick off the regular season on August 24. The team will start the season with four matches at home, which will be hosted by the city of Athens in Georgia. The Ramsey Student Centre will set up
the field for play for the season opening matches of Bulldogs.
The Georgian squad will take on teams from Troy, Georgia State, and Serbia. The Benson Hospitality Bulldog Invitational will cover its length from August 24-26.
Next up, the Bulldogs will travel to Florida, in order to take part in the Florida State Tournament. City of Tallahassee will host the action, while four teams will come into competition. The Bulldog will take on Florida international, Florida A&M, and hosts
Florida State, respectively.
Thereafter, the Georgian ladies will take a road trip to East Lansing, Michigan. The Michigan State Women’s Volleyball Tournament is scheduled take place from September 7-8.
In the next run, the team will appear in the conference matches. At the end of the season, Bulldogs will participate in the NCAA Tournament, which will serve as the last event of the regular season.
Overall, the Georgia Bulldogs will appear in 15 home matches in the 2012 season. Moreover, the team will be required to play 10 Southeastern Conference matches at home.
The team mentor Stemke is hopeful about good results in the 2012 season.
