my fiance bought me a beretta tomcat .32cal earlier this year

i'm at home 3 days of the week while he's working and he worries a lot about me since in this world anything happens out of the blue nowadays

yesterday he purchased for me:

Pre-Fragmented Safety Ammunition

The seller at the gun shop referred to these bullets as "very nasty" He described these are the ones that give surgeons a headache when removing them out of the body.

On the cardboard that was on the case they came in there's a sticker that read:

.32 ACP 36-gr X-Load

1,450 fps/168 ft-lbs in Beretta Tomcat. "New design, Faster & More Reliable. X-tremely Potent in Seecamp or Tomcat.

Has anyone ever used these bullets? What are your thoughts on them?

  1. I've used a cartridge called a Glasser Safety Slug which sounds simular to what you a describing.  Ive never used one in an actual defensive situation but have experimented with them on water jugs and wet phone books and drywall in .32acp, .357mag, 9mm and .45acp.  They are quite expensive so my testing wasn't extensive but from my limited testing they appear to be devistating.  The major reason I wanted them was the safety aspect of the design.  If you miss, the projectile will fragment on striking almost any object and minimize or remove all together the danger of a stray round hitting an innocent.

  2. they are to reduce risk of ricochet, they break apart upon impact.  For indoor protection, they are a good round.
