Each month my school switches out the BB with a different subject. I am terrible at coming up with cute bulletin board ideas and frankly, dont have the time to make them all cutesy. I am looking for ideas for slogans or titles for my bulletin boards! Right now my focus is on Functional Writing (How To...). Any cute ideas? I also am open to ideas for any subject area/theme in general!! Thanks

  1. maybe have them create it, all kids love doing projects. :]

  2. Reading is your door to the world

have a board with the map of the world and have little books with the name of magor countries or cities marking them

By reading a book you can travel as far as  the end of the world.

    or

have the children go home with some construction paper and write a note home to tell the parents to have the child pick out their favorite book read it to them and then on the construction paper have the kids draw out  their favorite part of the book and tack that on you board with  a title

  3. For a theme for autumn I did "Our Apple Orchard". I cut out green "tree tops" and let the kids stamp red circles on them(apples) and then they glued rough sand paper rectangles (tree trunks) to them. This was fun to do as we went to an apple orchard for a field trip.

  4. One idea for the spring, you could do a bulletin board about how to grow a flower, or "April Showers bring May Flowers".  You could make the bottom of the board brown for the dirt, and green above that for the grass.  The first part of the scene on the left will be the seed being planted.  The next scene/stage will be the rain/April showers, the next scene or stage will be say a half way grown flower, and the final stage will be the flower in full bloom (May flowers).  To go along with this idea, you could have the kids all plant a flower seeds one day in class in late March or early April and put their names on the containers.  Let them water their flowers when they come into class in the morning and see how their flowers are doing (just keep them somewhere that they will get sunlight of course).  This will keep them involved, and they will be excited that they actually grew something.  Trust me, my son thought it was great when he grew some grass!

  5. I think no matter what theme you choose it should be filled with things done by the children. It would be their work that the parents really want to see.

  6. hmmmmm...this is tough

i suggest a cutsey saying on the top like It's Functional Writing and Oh So Exciting

then have them write a little bit of functional writing(and have them draw a pic.)

  7. How to Rhyme with Valentine

Give them all a heart and have  them put a rhyming word on it.

I love doing bulletin boards - -for February I had all the kids bring in baby pictures of themselves, put them on hearts and have the heading 'when they were babies" - it's so cute and the parents love to come in and look at them all.
