Bulls planning move for all-star Anthony
Although the Chicago Bulls failed to make the major splash of signing LeBron James or Dwyane Wade in the off-season, they did improve an already-good roster by signing Carlos Boozer to a long-term deal. Now, Chicago is looking to make another big move.
With a roster including Boozer and talented point guard Derrick Rose, the Bulls are interested in trading for Denver Nuggets star Carmelo Anthony. The team has held internal discussions and are rumored to be including star forward Joakim Noah as part of the deal.
The Bulls are reportedly hoping to move Noah and former Duke star Luol Deng for Anthony.
Deng has four years left on his six-year, $71 million contract. The size of the contract may make Denver rethink a possible deal.
Anthony was drafted by the Denver Nuggets third overall in the 2003 draft that included Miami Heat stars James, Wade and Chris Bosh.
Anthony's desire to be moved has been well documented, though the star has not acknowledged it to the media. The former Syracuse star has tried to convince Denver GM Masai Ujiri to move him, preferring a move to play for Mike D'Antoni and his hometown New York Knicks.
D'Antoni is a big fan of Carmelo, having battled him for years as the coach of the Suns. The Knicks recently added Amar'e Stoudemire to the roster.
Anthony as been an essential piece to a revived squad under George Karl. The Nuggets have made it to the play-offs five consecutive years under the veteran coach. Anthony averaged 28.2 points and six rebounds last season for Denver.
With a move possible, Ujiri is hoping to keep his all-star small forward in Colorado. "I think I'm going to convince him to be a Nugget," Ujiri said.
If Ujiri gets the right offer, Anthony may be on his way to Chicago or New York
