Running ahead of the Wizards
The Bulls started taking the lead in the second quarter and led with as many as 18 points in the third quarter but after that they had to fight back when Gilbert Arenas tried to make a comeback for the Washington Wizards.
He scored a season high 30 points and that too off the bench. The Wizards who are 2-6 overall and 0-4 on the road make up for one of the only two road teams in the league who haven’t won up till now.
When asked about their road trip, the Bulls coach seemed oblivious to the already raging hype and said, "I'm not really concerned about the road trip. I'm concerned about practice and then
Houston. All the stuff about going on the road and the circus, I'm not concerned about that."
The Washington Wizards turned the 14-point game into an 8-point game when they scored the first six points of the fourth quarter. They shot 68 per cent in that quarter but could not make up for the free throwing scoring difference in the quarter.
Gilbert Arenas made seven for 10 from a 3-point range. The Wizards could not make any free throws between the second and third quarters for 11 minutes. After that they went for another 14 minutes without giving a free throw in the fourth quarter. While the
Bulls were 26 for 34 they finished off four for eight from the line.
Good Move
In the first half Kyle Korver played 14 minutes and Ronnie Brewer played 12. This turned out to be a good move as they responded with an awesome second quarter. The Bulls outscored the Wizards by nine and shot 53 percent from the field.
Luol Deng scored 20 points, grabbed nine rebounds and six assists for the Chicago Bulls who forced 23 turnovers, leading to 18 points.
