Bulls romp to seventh consecutive home victory against the Detorit Pistons
The Chicago Bulls almost threw away the game on Monday night at the United Centre. In the end though, the two best players on the floor made the difference, as the Chicago Bulls romped to their seventh consecutive home victory 95-82 by trouncing the Detroit
Pistons.
Derrick Rose continued to play like a Most Valuable Player (MVP), finishing with a game-high 29 points, seven assists, and five rebounds. While Carlos Boozer scored 27 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Luol Deng managed 17 and Ronnie Brewer posted
11 points, buoyed by some efficient marksmanship from the perimeter.
Tayshaun Prince scored a team-high 15 points in the defeat. Austin Daye had 14 points and Chris Wilcox ended with 13 points for Pistons, who lost their 25th game of the season.
Game Story
This is definitely a bittersweet bargain. The good news is that the Bulls got the win however, midway through the game it was apparent that they lost their focus. The bottom-line is that the Pistons are in such bad form that it is hard to imagine that they
could beat anyone. They let their opponents erase a 12-point half time lead to go on and win the game.
The Bulls shot just 32 percent in the first quarter, and allowed the Pistons to take a 25-20 lead heading into the second. In the second quarter, Detroit’s dominance was complete and utter. The Pistons controlled most of the first half thanks to a sizzling
display by Daye. He showed off his versatility by scoring all 14 of his points in the second quarter, by making all six of his shots. Detroit led 55-43 at the break.
After a bad stretch of rebounding and trailing by 11 points at the intermission, the Bulls got back on track in the third quarter. Rose scored 11 of the Bulls' final 15 points of the third quarter. Chicago erased the half time advantage, opening the third
quarter with a 13-4 run, and taking a 76-70 lead into the fourth.
"We finally played defence. In the first half, they were getting everything they wanted by driving to the hole, getting to the line," Rose said. "In the second half, we made sure we got in their way."
Rose continued his run in the fourth, scoring seven of the Bulls last nine points. Boozer's jumper gave the Bulls an 86-78 lead with 3:54 left, and Brewer's three-pointer a minute later put the game away for rest of the period.
"We had a couple of good looks and when those good looks aren't going in then they came down and capitalised on everything. It seems like that's a trademark that's happened a lot this season," said Pistons coach John Kuester.
