  1. Main difference is shape and material.

Bumbo is a firm, yet squishy foam material with a textured finish to keep baby from moving.

Bebe is a hard slick plastic.

I looked at both of them for my registry and decided on Bumbo for the sole reason that it looked much sturdier and I wouldn't be concerned with my daughter sliding around in it.

  2. get the bumbo the bebe pod is hard and the bumbo is really soft. my daughter learned how to sit up better in that seat.

  3. The bumbo is way better, we have one and it is great for helping our little girl sit up. Don't go with the bebe pod knock off, not even worth the time or money. What also is so great is that they can sit up on a table like at a restraunt. If your child is big enough to throw themselves out than they are obviously to big for the chair, the chair is nice a recessed so it sits them correctly and prevents them from doing that unless they had grown out of it.

  4. Bumbos are DANGEROUS!  My daughter threw herself out of hers at 4 or 5 months.  If I hadn't been right there to catch her head, she would have hit the table.  I have several other friends that have had similar expierences.

If you are going to get one, I'd go for the bebe pod (but I know nothing about that one).

  5. I think both are useless.  My daughters physical therapist said that neither help the child learn to sit up since it lays their weight backwards, not down.  Also, like the previous poster said, it is very possible for a baby to fling themselves backwards in them.

  6. I love our Bumbo seat!

You can start using the Bumbo as soon as your baby can hold up his head....  I started using it regularly around 8 weeks.  He tried it out for a few minutes at about 6 weeks.

I like the soft material of the Bumbo, better than the Bebe pod.

  7. They are very similar, but IMO not worth the cost. See if you can find one secondhand. You will get very little use out of them.

He does not need to know how to sit. The seat will support him.

If your baby has very chunky thighs, don't even bother with a seat. Baby won't fit!

  8. I like the bumbo better.

In response to another poster, bumbos are not dangerous if used properly. They aren't designed to actually be 'baby sitters.' They required supervision as do most baby toys. If you set your child on the floor in a bumbo, he or she can only fall as far as if they were sitting up on their own- not a dangerous situation by any means. However, if you sit your child on the table in a bumbo and they manage to turn it over, there could be injuries. Whose fault would that be? They company specifically states that children are not to be left alone in them, especially on high surfaces. ANY toy is dangerous if used incorrectly, just like any child is likely to be get hurt if neglected by it's parents.
