Question:

Bumming around on the Caribbean.?

Some people dream about living on a boat and bouncing around the islands. (margarittaville is playing in the background right now). Is doing that cost prohibitive? I mean, do they charge you port fees everytime you go to a different island. I hear Burmuda is like $300. Does anyone know how expensive it is to sail to those islands? Beer and bait is extra, but what about the expenses that you don't think about..anyone know?

  1. Here are some fees you have to think about.

    Harbor Fees

    Bridge Fees

Custom Clearance fees (In Bahamas $150-$300)

    Mooring fees

    Departure tax

    Diesel Fuel

    Insurance and maintenance

    fresh water/ice

    provisions (food)

Safety equipment (life jackets, fire extinguish, first aid)

A place to dock the boat when not in use (marina fees)

You need to have moocho money to sail/motor around the Caribbean. Sounds like a great idea. Keep playing the lotto)

  2. It can get expensive thats why Yachting is a rich man sport.

Antigua English Harbour has a great Yachting community.
