1. My dad took me to japan and china a few years ago and we went into this weapon shop thing and I saw these shurikans for like a dollar each, so i bought one of ever kind there had, they had one that looked like a sun (lots of points) on that had just 3 points and one that had four points that were curved (as if to make it more aero-dynamic or something)

I was just wondering what each was called

2. I also was able to carry them in my back when i left the airport...isn't that bad? I forgot they were in there of course but isn't that illegal and wouldn't it have shown up on the xray thing?

3. I wanna know if I can buy more of these kinds of things, I'm 16, is there a law that says i can't?

4. How would one sharpen said shurikan? lol the curved one that is, it doesn't stick to anything lol

  1. what matters is correct form and a good throw....it completely doesn't matter if the shuriken sticks in the target or bounces off. and actually as bujinkan said...they arent intended to stick.

you throw it at, and stick it in your opponent, who IS TRYING TO KILL YOU (by the way)...well you just gave him a weapon to use against you.

you can also lodge them in your hand and strike with them. they dont have to be "sharp"

they were never poisoned, common ordinary rust would do the job.

most of the time if it has more than 3 or 4 points...it's rather useless as anyone, even a novice can use them.

try using spiked shuriken...thats a real test.

  2. They are all called hira-shuriken. The round one is ment to slice, not stick to anything unless the blade is on the concave side. They come in many different forms; 3 blades, 4 blades, etc.

  3. there are many different types of trowing stars.  I even have a set of playing card throwers, and a set of batman throwers.  each one throws a little different, so play around with your throwing style until you get consistent good throws.  there should be lots of places to find throwing stars like martial arts supply stores(check your local listings or shop online)

instead of sharpening them get a foam archery target from Walmart or make one by stuffing crumpled up newspaper into a cardboard box.  a softer target will let the dull stars stick better and still be a little safer.  it might not be a bad idea to set up a sheet or tarp as a backdrop(until your aim improves)
