Bundesliga News: Borussia Dortmund forward Mohamed Zidan in rehab; Out for 3 weeks
German club Borussia Dortmund has been on the rise and has maintained its excellent form in their domestic league this season. However, lady luck has not been on their side, troubling them far more than they had anticipated.
During last season, the club finished at the 5th position in the Bundesliga. They drastically improved in the ongoing season and are currently placed at the second spot, breathing behind the back of Bundesliga leaders Mainz.
Media reports on the other hand have confirmed the final results of why striker Mohamed Zidan is absent. Medical reports have informed that the forward will be out for two weeks at least and if the rehab and the comeback period are added, it is most likely
that he will make his first appearance after 3 weeks.
Officials from the club elaborated that the striker is undergoing treatment so he won’t be able to participate in the practice session. However, on an optimistic note, the spokesperson added that he expected the player to return for full training in two
weeks time.
It was elucidated that the 28-year-old striker has been sent to the United States of America for rehabilitation and would directly added to the squad on his return.
Who is one of Borussia Dortmund’s key players in attack, Zidan is currently having a tough time with his recovery process after the player suffered an excruciating ligament injury. Zidan has stated quite recently that though the recovery is taking more time
than expected, he can’t wait to get back onto the field with his team.
Zidan who also plays for Egypt’s national team is currently carrying out his rehabilitation process at the Athletes' Performance Centre in United States. In a press release, he confirmed that if things went ahead according to plan, he will make a full recovery
in 2 weeks and participate in the 3rdgame.
Zidan started his career with Borussia Dortmund in 2008 and since then he has made 45 caps and scored 15 goals. His performance for Egypt has been notable too, having participated in 35 fixtures and scoring 8 goals. Zidan has also featured in other top notch
clubs in Germany like Werder Bremen, Mainz and Hamburg.
On the other hand, there was some disappointing news too. Borussia Dortmund’s skipper Sebastian Kehl, who expertise at the centre back position will be missed as latest reports about him have related the player to be out for the next two months after he pulled
a hamstring injury.
The 30-year-old defensive midfielder has had an interesting career of promotions and demotions. However, since 2002, when he joined Borussia Dortmund, the player has been on the rise and has capped in 84 matches along with scoring 16 goals. He has also featured
for Germany in 31 matches and scored 3 goals.
