Bundesliga: Nurnberg vs. Eintracht Frankfurt - Preview
Dieter Hecking is asking for more from his team as Nurnberg take on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eintracht-Frankfurt-c38994 at the Frankenstadion tonight.
Nurnberg are the in-form side of the two and have already won three consecutive games but Hecking wants his team to continue their good run, as he looks to finish the season on a high.
Before the start of the season, Hecking set his team a target of at least 44 points this season and his team can even improve on that aspect as well.
Nurnberg currently lie in 9th place in the Bundesliga standings with 32 points, just 12 points short of the target, but with still 14 more matches left, they have a great chance to get even more points.
While talking to the media, Hecking said that he wants to extend the winning streak. “We want to repeat the 22 points we got in the first half of the season and we are still 12 short”, added the German.
Hecking was hopeful that the Frankenstadion would be full for tonight’s clash and also hoped to see if his side can aim to break into the top 5 or not.
Playing against Frankfurt would be a test of the team’s maturity and Frankfurt should be looking for nothing less than 3 points against a side that has been in terrible form of late. The main talking point among critics in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904 regarding Frankfurt is
their inability to score a goal.
Shockingly enough, Frankfurt hasn’t been able to score a single goal this year, an appalling record for a side that is so close to the relegation zone.
In the last 5 games, Michael Skibbe’s side has taken just one point. But once again, Skibbe is confident that his side will eventually return to winning ways even though he continues to ignore http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ioannis-Amanatidis-c16967.
He said that the team is hungry for success and added that the players want to get it right where they were wrong in recent matches.
Head-to-head
Nurnberg
The home team has been a really exciting team so far this season and the players have started paying off their fans’ patience by putting in a decent run of results. At home, Nurnberg has started looking more and more like a difficult side to beat at home.
They have played 11 home games this season so far and have won 7 and lost 4, which means that they will definitely be aiming to get maximum points in front of a home crowd.
Frankfurt
Frankfurt had a pretty good away record before the start of the new year, but having not won a single game, they have now slipped to 12th in the table and have lost 4 of their last 5 games.
Apart from the losing streak, Frankfurt should be worried about their lack of scoring goals. They are still waiting to score their first goal of the year.
Greek international, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Theofanis-Gekas-c34884, is their top scorer with 14 goals but his last goal was in December. His dip in form can also be considered another reason for Frankfurt’s lack of profligacy in front of the goal but coach, Skibbe, should be looking
at other attackers in his side to take some goal responsibilities as well.
Prediction
While Nurnberg is becoming stronger as each week passes, Frankfurt’s miserable run will take some time before coming to an end. Tonight’s game should be an easy one for the home team that has started to realize its’ full potential.
