transfer window.
The player’s future was under widespread speculation a few weeks back with his agent claiming that the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 FC and Newcastle United also interested. However, the Dutchman chose Monchengladbach instead possibly due
to the prospect of playing in the UEFA Champions League next season.
De Jong claims that joining Gladbach was not a difficult decision for him as the club had done so well in the Bundesliga last term. He admitted that he has great respect for Lucien Favre and is confident that the tactician will
play a significant role in his development.
“I think it was the right step for me to take. I've followed the development of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Germany-c2904
so maybe there's less pressure,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, the striker rued Netherlands’ disappointing Euro 2012 campaign and insisted that the team still had a chance to make it to the next round by winning the last game, but another poor result deprived them. However,
he still rates the competition as a great learning experience as he relished training with the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Robin-van-Persie-c31380.
“Before the last game we still had a chance to make it to the next round, but if you lose all three group games it's a terrible result. It was my first time at a European championship and it was a great experience for someone like
me to work alongside players like Robin van Persie every day,” he concluded.
Luuk de Jong is expected to shine for his new club next season and at 21, he still has a long career to look forward to.
