Bungie employee helps apprehend gunman
A Bungie employee successfully went on to detain a gunman, as he tried to flee from the scene of a crime and cuffed him, until police could arrive and take him in for further investigation.
The Bungie employee, who has now been identified as Jeff Fletcher, found himself outside the scene of a shooting, as he parked his car. Fletcher, who had just gone on to complete the parking of his car, went on to witness a gunman go on and shoot another
and then try to flee the scene of the crime.
He is reported to have said that a fight broke out between two men in front of him, right outside a US Bank, in a neighbourhood known as Skyway. After both men seemed to get into a rather heated discussion, they went on to withdraw concealed weapons, followed
by one of the men shooting the other.
Fortunately, Fletcher was a former security guard and knew just how to deal with the situation. He went on to hide behind the ATM, only to soon notice that the shooter was making a run towards him. Instead of caving in, Fletcher decided to make a move and
pulled out his own hidden firearm, which he had the legal rights to carry.
Fletcher then went on to state that he instructed the gunman what to do next and coincidently, he actually listened to him.
Fletcher is quoted to have said, "I told him to drop his weapon, he dropped his weapon. I told him to get on the ground, he got on the ground."
Luckily, the Bungie employee also happened to be carrying a pair of handcuffs, which belonged to his dad who was a former police officer. He used the handcuffs to apprehend the shooter until the police arrived to take him in.
Sergeant John Urquhart, who was one of the police officers to report to the scene, was later explaining what he saw to the media, “When we got here, the shooter was searched, in handcuffs and sitting down on the curb.”
This act by Fletcher is not only going to give Bungie some massive time under the spotlight, but it is also going to help out video games all over the world. People often tend to associate video games with acts of violence and crimes, but seeing that an employee,
who works for a game developing company, went on to show such commendable actions, there is very little water that those arguments will now hold.
Nonetheless, despite Fletcher managing to successfully taking one gunman into custody, it does not mean that everyone should try to do the same, since the outcomes may not always be favourable.
