Bunkered to grab the William Hill – The Home Of Betting on 29th February
The Grade A2 William Hill – The Home Of Betting is to be staged on Wednesday, 29th February at Newcastle over 480 metres flat. The race has to offer a £112 prize money to the winner out of the six competing for the wire.
Bunkered, Brett Lee’s two-year-old black son out of b***h Shanless Lady, cracked into the 2012 season on 17th January at Newcastle by finishing the 480 metres race third in line after the winner.
He then came second in the William Hill – The Homes Of Betting Stakes on 24th January at Newcastle over 480 metres. He clocked the distance in 29.67 seconds while the 2/1 favourite of the race, Shays Star, ended the race fourth.
It was during Bunkered’s third attempt of the new season that he posted a victory. He won the Grade A4 Williamhill.Com Stakes on 31st January at Newcastle. He was on the other side of the wire in 29.90 seconds, leading by ¾ of a length. Renager
and Bohard Lad, the 9/4 joint favourites of the race, finished third and sixth.
After failing in the next four starts, Bunkered took charge of the track on 25th February and won the Grade A3 Pat Grant’s Birthday Trophy at Newcastle, raced over 480 metres.
Bunkered covered the track distance in 29.49 seconds, leading by half a length. Pingthelidsdavey, the 2/1 favourite for the race managed the track in 29.53 seconds, qualifying as the runner up of the race.
Today, the two-year-old is hoping for his third victory of the season. Even though he has not been sent as a favourite in any of the races, he has all the chances of dominating the course of the race today.
Target Rio, College Causeway’s two-year-old black daughter out of Brazilian Dancer, posted a victory through the race that welcomed her into the 2012 season. She won the Grade A3 William Hill Supporting Racing Post TV Stakes on 11th January at
Newcastle over 480 metres. She clocked the track distance in 29.64 seconds, leading by two and a half lengths.
Target Rio’s third win of the season was in the Grade A3 William Hill Hotbox Bet Stakes on 21st February at Newcastle over the same distance. She was through the wire in 29.58 seconds.
