Bunn coffee maker reservoir makes a gurgling noise

Question

Wehn I refill the reservoir of my Bunn coffee maker, it makes a loud, kind of loud boiling sound, almost popping..it is still working fine but I wonder if it is the heating element starting to go out. Or does something need cleaned? I think it is about 4-5 years old. It is a 10 cup home model.
