Question:

Bunnies in the same cage?

I have 2 female bunnies from the same mom. I bought them at petland about.. 3 weeks ago. I dont know the exact age of them, so im going to say they are probably ... 2-5 months old? Anyways, they are really nice to eachother now, and they cuddle up when they sleep.. Im wondering if there is anything to worry about? Neither of them will be able to become pregnant (due to both being girls) so they won't become aggressive due to that... Will they become aggressive to eachother as they get older.. or will they say peaceful since they have been together since birth?

  1. Are they spayed? I've found that most pet stores DON'T spay the rabbits they sell, but some might - you'll have to call the store to find out if you don't know. I suspect that yours aren't because they're really too young to have it done. Generally, 4-6 months is the best time.

If they aren't, you'll really want to consider if. They're getting to be about the proper age. It does affect their behavior - it's not about just preventing pregnancy. Intact female rabbits tend to be moody, territorial, and aggressive to other rabbits. When they hit sexual maturity, there's a big chance they'll start fighting. Most rabbit breeders house their female rabbits alone, but if you're just keeping yours as pets, the best thing to do is get them both spayed - they really will enjoy each other's company that way.

  2. yes

  3. females get along way better than males. theres nothing to worry about. they'll fight on occasion but nothing serious. its like when you fight with your sister, you cant get along 100% of the time. theres bound to be tiny squabbles over time but nothing to worry about.

  4. They can get cage aggressive if you have them in too small of an area. but they should be fine.

  5. I would just make sure they are both female.

I got one of my rabbits from petland and they told me she was a he.

Next time, adopt two rabbits instead of supporting bybs and mills.

  6. first off,i'll make sure,if i were you,if you really have 2 females.how sure are you?rabbits generally are hard to s*x as they have a unique reproductive system.if you don't know the process to know the s*x,you might not be able to make sure you really have 2 females with you.go to this site.it'll tell you how to differentiate genders:

    http://www3.telus.net/raisinghouserabbit...

go to that site.remeber:it's almost impossible to know the s*x of underage rabbits(those who are 8 weeks old and below).

and now if you are sure about the real s*x,let's go to your question...

rabbits,no matter what the gender is,tend to fight for territory.they will kick and bite if necessary.no matter how close they are, after some time you might need to separate the two.if you don't want that to happen.i'll say neuter them both as to erase the territorial behavior.this might even clam your rabbits and extend their life span.

not all rabbits who are born together will stay together.they will soon develop a sense of territorial aggresiveness when they have reached adulthood.

  7. They will most likely stay friends for life.  F & F pairings of bunnies get along better than any other gender pairing.

However, female rabbits can become aggressive if they have a false pregnancy (female rabbits don't have "heats", but hormone fluctuations occasionally simulate pregnancy and induce nesting behaviors such as fur-picking and arranging and guarding piles of bedding).  They may fight with other rabbits, and even be crabby towards you. You should take both bunnies to a vet to get them spayed to avoid hormonal behavior, as well as ovarian cancer.

  8. If they're that gentle to each other now, you have nothing to worry about later.  They'll get along just fine.

  9. Well, Girls are better than boys together. (In Bunnies) But sometimes they will get aggresive, but pretty much that only happens when there is one male.  So they should be fine unless you bring in a male, even if they are not in the same cage sometimes!

    ~~ Hope It Helps-Ayla

  10. They will bond fine. It is much better than being on their own
