  1. If you cannot afford an adoption fee for two, you shouldn't get any. They do best in pairs.

And the cost for feed, bedding and vet bills will add up to twenty times that amount at least over the course of their lifespan.

  2. This organization does not require their rabbits be adopted in pairs unless they are already bonded: http://search.petfinder.com/shelterSearc...  Their fee is $75, which includes spay or neuter.  The spay or neuter on a rabbit usually costs between $100-250 (males on the low end, females more), so this is a good deal!  If you can't afford this nominal fee, please don't get a rabbit.  They are expensive to care for properly, especially if they get sick.  Vet bills for an exotic animal like a rabbit usually run about  twice what they do for a conventional pet like a cat or dog.  Please look at this site for information on caring for a rabbit properly: http://www.rabbit.org/  Start with 'House Rabbits 101' and the FAQs that are listed at the top of the home page.
