I have had rabbits all my life, they are one of the easiest animals to care for.

Always make sure they have a piece of wood to chew on they have ever growing teeth and use the wood to keep them the right length, to file them down. Not providing a wood chunk is the most common mistake.

A rabbits teeth can grow so long they can be unable to eat and starve to death.

You can buy wood chews for rabbits at the pet or feed store.

When I do projects with lumber I just cut a piece off a 2x4 and toss it in the cage. Never use a painted piece of wood.

I would recommend litter training your bunny it is so easy and makes cleanup so much easier for you.

What works best is a corner shaped litter box with cedar or wood chips.

I got my corner shaped box at PetSmart.

All you have to do is put it in the cage rabbits are naturally clean animals and will p**p in the same corner of the cage anyways.

If you take him out of the cage just bring the box with you and show him where it is.

Always supervise a bunny on the loose they will chew your electrical cords.

Mine chewed the buttons off my TV remote while he was on the bed with me watching TV.

If you get a girl bunny plan on having her spayed, females can get very unfriendly after their first heat.

I would recommend only getting a male bunny.

Bunny's are VERY susceptible to heat if you keep yours outside make sure he never has the sun directly on the cage. They also drink a surprising amount of water and should never be without it.

If you keep him outside and it is hot out put a frozen water bottle or even a 2 liter bottle of frozen water in it. He will lay against it to keep cool.

In his cage make sure you have a flat piece of wood or cardboard (you would have to replace the cardboard a lot because he will chew it up) for him to stand on rather then always having to stand directly on the wire bottom.

Standing on the wire bottom cages can give the bunny what they call sore hocks, sores on the bottom of their feet.

I got my last cage at PetSmart and it actually has a plastic bottom with round holes instead of a wire bottom.

Keep his ears clean using a Q-tip and a little mineral oil a bit of water is fine. Don't put it in to this ear canal though. My bunny stays inside so I never have to clean his ears.

Male rabbits also have these things called vents which are little pink skin indentations on either side of their testicles you can clean those about once a month with a q-tip and mineral oil as well.

Use regular toe nail clippers to clip its nails about once a month. Just the tips off.
