  1. Please do not decorate with balloons, for the love of God, this isn't a 5 year olds birthday party.

Visit theknot.com for design ideas. Flowers are usually used, vases, fruit displays even, candles, votives, vines, all kinds of things can be used for decoration. No one uses balloons and haven't for 20 years.

  2. I don't think balloons are a bad idea, but I think only red balloongs might not be.  Your colours may not be great choices for balloons, but if you make sure to get burgundy or claret (not red!!) and maybe accent with silver balloons could look cool.  I've seen balloon arches or you could just have them as part of centre pieces, or if you're having a tent reception you could le tthem go in there.  I don't understand why everyone is so against it?  I've seen it done TONS of times!

bottom line; yes *red* balloons will look tacky, burgundy/claret will not.

otherwise you could decorate with streamers, confetti, etc.

  3. Everything sounds good except the ballooons. Save them for the kiddie parties ( =

    Other decoration options:

    - flowers!!!

    - candles

    - photos of the two of you or of your relatives weddings

    - if you have a theme, incorporate it into the decor: treasure chests, baskets, seashells, etc. Use your invitations as inspiration!

    - tulle and lights

    - potted plants

    Good luck!

  4. I think those colors are absolutely BEAUTIFUL and elegant! I love it! And whether you choose burgundy or claret, it will look great. Though, I'm a BIG fan of the warmth in bugundy. :) As for balloons, it depends on how you use them. The color scheme is very elegant, so I would lean more toward that thought in your decorating and keep balloons to a minimal decor scheme. If you are thinking of balloons for expense reasons, there are other ways to decorate on a budget without LOOKING like you are on a budget. :)

    EDIT:

You could do vases and fill them with colored stones and do flower centerpieces. OR, you could get branches and spray paint them gold for the centerpieces. I've seen this done with silver branches and it's GORGEOUS!

Here are some pics of the silver branches:

Get smaller wide bowls and use floating candles and flowers in them. Use tall gold candles and coming out of a bowl of potpourri in your colors.

What time of year is your wedding? You could use seasonal decor you could get at any discount store.

  5. No balloons. Use and arch, some pretty tagle decorations, some flowers, dont use ballons. Go to your hall and ask to see pictures of previous weddings.

Ironic, my dress is ivory, and my girls are wearing claret and carrying sunflowers for my wedding!

Also, take a swatch of the colors to your florist so they can best match.

  6. I would nix the baloons, but everything else sounds great.  And have you taken like a fabric sample of each burgundy and claret and compared it to the roses to see which is more similar?

  7. Honestly everything sounds fine except the balloons.

The colors will look lovely.  Don't do balloons.  This is not a prom or a five year olds birthday party or a wedding in 1984.

    Balloons are not appropriate.

  8. No Balloons!  Use flowers and/or candles on your tables for centerpieces. Use twinkle lights on a strand and tulle instead of balloons. I think your color scheme sounds very pretty.

  9. hi i love the ideas but red is so harsh i had balloons at my wedding and they weren't tacky at all contrary to popular belief maybe go for somethin more subtle in color with the balloons and the red roses will be enough color on the tables. I wish i could share a picture of my table arrangements once done by professionals they can look awesome and price around they don't have to cost a mint ok good look on ur day

  10. The colors of my wedding is red and gold.  I did start by choosing Burgundy but I loved the red with the gold so much better.  I put some gold ribbon around my red candles and they look so elegant.

I would not go with the balloons.  I think with the elegant colors of red and gold that it might look awkward.  I hope your wedding turns out gorgeous.

  11. Sounds beautiful! No balloons though. If you're talking about table decorations, a small vase with red/claret/burgundy roses is really pretty and maybe some little candle holders with water and burgundy  floating candles. Very elegant yet not pricey.

  12. yes, red balloons are tacky for weddings

  13. I love the color combinations it sounds beautiful! for decoration ideas i would go with:

    flower vases

    floating candles

    table clothes and napkins

    candles with ribbon

as balloons if you don't do a massive amount of them and try to keep it looking elegant
