Burke up to his old tricks...?

Brian Burke is now claiming through the media that the reason for the salary cap minimum spenditure going up to $40.7 million is none other than.....Kevin Lowe. Will Burke ever let last summer go? Is there anything else Burke wants to put the blame on Kevin Lowe for? The Holocost? The Crucifixtion?

Wll this ever stop with Burke and Lowe?

Joe beat me to the global warming crack but Burke's hot air is responsible for that too.

As too why Salaries are up, Burke should look in is own backyard.  The only reason he lost Penner was that he overpaid for Bertuzzi and Schneider, and put himself to close to the cap.  Lowe realized he was up against the cap and made an offer on Penner that Burke could not match.

How do those signings look now Mr. Burke.  bertuzzi bought out and Schneider on the trading block... And this is the guy the leafs want to righten their ship.

Yeah, he is up to his tricks... if whining for no reason is a trick. Here's the part he keeps forgetting: there is a salary FLOOR that all these little teams like Edmonton have to hit.  Some of these teams did not have much choice in it. They had to hit the floor, or they would be penalized severely. Being that the Marian Hossa's of the world are not going to play for Edmonton and teams like them, they had to overpay younger players to do it instead. Otherwise they would have salary cap issues. That is the bottom line for small market teams.

And for the rest, Lowe did NOT force all these other teams to overpay for players. None of them HAD to do it, but they did it anyway. It is like blaming your neighbor because he bought a 60 inch plasma tv, so you ran out and bought one, too, even though you couldn't afford it. In the end, it's your OWN fault if you overspend.

I like Burke. He's a good GM. But he is way out of line on this one. I felt the same way last year. The GMs and owners agreed to allow for teams to make offers to RFAs. So Lowe did it. It was in the rules that he could do it, and he did it. Burke has absolutely NOTHING to whine about.

Actually in my local paper Burke accused Lowe of global warming too.I think it had alot to do with the hair spray that Kevin used in the 80s.He might have a case.

I thought the cap increase was justified by revenue and not by player contracts?

Scariest Brian Burke thought of the day: The potential combination of Burke and the Toronto sports media. A man who doesn't need to wait for something to happen to provide any sort of sound bite coupled with a hundred guys who can turn a pin drop into the next Hiroshima in seconds.

Sure glad I have a 'mute' button on my remote control if he does come to Toronto next year.

Mr. Taco...you are correct in most everything you say, but what exactly has Burke ever done as a GM? His Stanley Cup team was put together by others and previous to joining Da Ducks, I don't see anything too impressive on his resume.
