So basically my dad is a partyer!! He loves having a laugh and meeting new people. He is probably one of the nicest people you could ever meet, and thats why he has a lot of trust in people. After getting back from a concert 2 of his friends came round for a drink, but then his friends asked if some of their friends could come too. Being a sociable person my dad said yes, and they came around. They were to men, in their late 20's and looks hard, macho type of people that you certainly wouldn't want to mess with, but my dads not one to judge a book by its cover. He was tired so my dad decided to go to bed and with him our staffordshire bull rocky :D he locked his door and left them downstairs. By that time the two friends that were round first were supposidly asleep and the to older men still chatting having a drink. Rocky our dog started to bark after dad went to bed, but he barks at cars coming past all night so my dad thought nothing of it. (also my dad left the car keys on the side with his front door keys on the side) The next morning when he got up, his lcd tv was missing which was attached to the wall with screws, His stereo, smoke machine, and car were all missing. Is there anyway my dad could get these back through insaurance? My dad has contacted the police, but nothing yet has been found. We are going through money struggles as it is, and would be really happy if there would be anyway we could claim them back, is there any type of company, or any reccomendations you have that could help us? pleaseee, I am 14 and my sister is 11. We know our dad caan sometimes be abit to trustworthy of people, and this has definately been a learning curve for him, but if there is anyway that you could possibly help us i would be soo grateful :( thank you

  1. if your dad has insurance and depending on the perils listed then it is possible that he may recover, due to the circumstances listed such as negligence on his part (allow strangers who were inebriated to stay in his residence without watching over them) may contribute to a long and intrusive investigation. i don't see why they wouldn't pay the claim especially if your dad gives him all the information he knows. if your dad cooperates then chances are the insurance carrier will to. take in mind that your dad may have a large deductible that may just make the claim investigation not worth it.

  2. WHERE ARE YOU FROM????

as the answer depends on your location!

  3. Sorry to hear of your bad news.  Its hard to say if he would be able to claim from the insurance - he needs to phone them up straight away.  They may be able to help or they may think it was a set up to claim on the insurance.  Did the police come round and take fingerprints and a report because the insurance company would need evidence of a police investigation?  Did they question your dad's friends because if they know the culprits then that's got to be a good place to start.   Insurance companies won't pay out easily under these kinds of circumstances especially if they didn't break in to the house.

  4. hi.

it would really depend on the insurance comany in question. i work in insurance and deal with 20 different policies and theft cover varies through all of them. some policies require forced entry and will refuse to cover goods if they were stolen by someone who you invited in. however some of the policies will cover the goods but not cover any money that was stolen.

the best thing to do is to call the insurance company to make a claim as the worst that will happen is that they say no and decline it.

hope this helps and good luck xx

  5. Can't your dad find out the identities of the guys through his other friends?!
