Burn marks on an iron?

Does anybody know how to get rid of burn marks on an iron?

my aunty used to rub a bar of soap on the iron when it was warm and then iron a wet screwed up cloth  pressing down hard.

Brillo pad (steel wool soap pad)

i'm not sure on this but my cousin did this and it worked

Wait until the iron is hot and then wipe it down with rubbing alcohol

clean lightly with a scouring pad

Put some vinegar on an old cloth. Run the warm iron over the vinegar. The burn / yellow marks will disappear and the bottom of the iron will look like new.

Turn it off. Let it cool and then use turps on a rag. Make sure you let it evaporate off before using it again. - Worked for me anyway!

Put the iron on hot and iron an old wet piece of cloth until the burn has gone, or buy an iron cleaner from the supermarket
