Burned cookies PLEASE HELP?

Ok I love baking I bake cupcakes (which come out good) and sweets and stuff like that but my problem are the cookies.I don't make my own dough cause I wanna save time.I use the dough I use the brand krasdale and pillsbury but no matter what the edges come out lightly burned I butter up the tray where I put the cookies on and I put it on 350 degrees and I dont know what goes wrong help me I GOTTA MAKE SOME FOR THE BAKE SALE

  1. If your edges are burning it's possible that your cookies are getting too warm before they bake.  if your kitchen is hot, keep the waiting cookies in the fridge while the others bake.

    Also you can make double batches of cookies and freeze the 2nd batch so you'll always have some on hand!!

  3. first of all, always use parchment paper or silpat under your cookies, the result is so much nicer, they will never stick and cook so much nicer, much less likely to burn. Secondly you need to take your cookies out slightly before they are done. Just when they start to turn golden, but before any signs at all of dark brown. The reason for this is they continue cooking when they come out the oven until they have fully cooled down. Your oven thermostat might be a bit hot too if you always have this problem, so try baking them on 325.

    Also when you use the Silpat sheets or parchment paper, do not butter them or use any non stick spray. The oil is likely what is making your edges too dark, its frying them!!

Well, first I suggest making your own dough, it doesn't take much time and they taste way better.  Then check where your rack is in the oven, it should be in the middle.  Your cookie sheet may be too thin, and you may need a better one.  Try nonstick cooking spray not butter, the butter may be whats burning.  Or, you may be over baking your cookies, try less time.

  5. I agree with one of the people here, always use parchment paper or (better yet) a silpat or silicone baking sheet.  

    Usually the items that burn in cookies are 1)  too much butter;  2) too much sugar; 3)  too hot an oven.   Bake them in the middle of the oven.  Watch the time in the recipe.  One minute can make a huge difference with cookies.  

    Take the cookies out when the centers appear to be done.   Always bake a cookie exactly the way it states in the recipe the first time.  That way you can determine what needs to change if anything for the next time you bake them.

    If you need them right away, make the toll house recipe on the Nestle's package.  They come out right every time.  

    And always make home made.  The other stuff just isn't worth the price.

  6. Butter burns so spray sheets with Pam or use shortening to grease them.  Try baking them at 325 for 8-10 minutes and I think  you'll have better luck.

  7. I use to have the same problem as you. I know most recipes say not to spray your pan with cooking spray but I spray mine. What I found that fixed the problem was use a large cookie sheet for your cookies and place a smaller one under it. Also, lightly press the cookie dough down before cooking. Remember to pre-heat your oven and remove cookies when they are just starting to turn golden. Good Luck!! I hope this helps!!

  8. Haha...you're not supposed to grease the pan.  =)  

    Also, make sure they look slightly UNDER-done when you pull them out.  If they look done, that automatically means you've overcooked them.  

    One other suggestion - if you're following the directions completely, then turn down your oven appr. 10 degrees.  Oven k***s are approximates...you're not going to get the exact temp. unless you monitor with a thermometer inside.  So you're oven may be slightly hotter than it's supposed to be.
