  1. Since Windows can't be officially/legally downloaded I suspect you have a bad/corrupt/tampered file.

Your laptop should have come with the correct CDs/DVDs you need to reload everything it came with, if not call the manufacturer to find out why.

  2. I would recommend you download VSO CopytoDVD. Ive been using it for a year now, on windows, never had a problem!

It is the ultimate CD and DVD backup software! You can backup DVD movies and videos, music, games, photos and data files in one click!

it is easy to use, fast and it works perfect for me.. give it a try, you'll love it

you can download CopytoDVD from vso official site here:

    http://www.vso-software.fr/products/copy...

    • Audio: Create Audio CDs from MP3, WMA, Ogg Vorbis, MusePack and APE file formats.

    • Data: Create CDs and DVDs using ISO/Joliet/UDF. Multi session feature allows you to add to your media in stages.

    • Video: Create high quality DVD Video backups to be played on your PC or home DVD player. Copy DVD video with high playability.

  3. You can try ImgBurn which is free and IMO much better than Nero.  Certainly a lot less bloated.

And this is assuming that the file you downloading is not corrupt in anyway.

I am also assuming that you have some good reason for downloading Windows.  Perhaps you were given the computer without the disks.  I work with economically disadvantaged people and this happens to them quite a lot.  Or the computer is one of those cheap ones that is supposed to make its own copy, but you didn't do this and now the windows on it is corrupt.

In these cases downloading Windows is still illegal, but IMO understandable.  And once successfully burned, you will still need to get around the required activation, etc. and I am not going to help you with that.

If you simply need a working operating system, you might try Linux.  Ubuntu receives a lot of good press.
