Question:

Burning Ubuntu 8.04 to DVD?

Hi,

I'm trying to make a dual boot with vista (Main os) and Ubuntu (Secondary os) boot when I have burned the .iso to a dvd-rw and try to boot from it it just boots into vista. I have a dvd drive

  1. You'll have to change your BIOS settings for the motherboard so it will boot from disc drive.

    I don't know what computer you have so I can't tell you which button you need to push, but you'll have to restart the computer and while it's loading keep hitting one of the following: Escape, Delete, F2, F8, F10, F12.

    One of those will bring you to BIOS setup. Keep restarting until you find the right button.

    You'll need to look through the settings and find boot devices and make sure your DVD rom is included. If not, make it one of the options. Look around (possibly in a different section) for boot order. You'll want to set your DVD rom to a higher priority than your hard drive. Once you've done that, save and exit.

    Then when you have a disc in and you start the computer, it should say "Press any key to boot from disc", or it will just boot straight to the disc.
