Burning a dvd please help?

Question

a friend sent me a movie and wantted me to burn it. i have tried but the format is .MP4 and now i need the softwear to burn it. can someone please tell me what programme to use i have tried using windows dvd maker but it won't work . please help... the video is homemade and is not illegal
