Usually I don't do it. My usual channel is NDTV. But by chance, just today I watched the news on CNN IBN.

Rajdeep Sardesai was interviewing on-line a local official from Orisa where the henous crime took place. The local official justified the burning alive of a Christian Nun. He said that due to conversion (in many well acclaimed and standard Christian schools our own ministers Advani in St. joseph's pakistan with Musharraf, famous journalists-Rajdeep Sardesai in -St. Xasviers, and sportsmen like -Sunil Gavaskar in St. Xaviers, Mumbai, to name a few. Indian Express-some years back) politicians have been educated. If they were to be converted the Christian population would have now soared to a mammoth proportions, this incident occured today. Further he said that there should be Anti-conversion Law.' (we are the gratest democracy in the world-so there is right for the majority to suspect & burn the minorities, 'majority is always right', majority in the nation is demo-version-cratic ). There may be many such incidents happening in the up north. But many may be going unnoticed and unrecorded (one needs to read The Hindustan Times -Delhi, just for a month).

Looks like my question the day before was a kind of precursor to the happening today.

On the one hand we want be a culturally rich nation, we want to sit in the line of the developed nations. We would even wish to do better than or at least as good as China has done in hosting Olympics, harvestinig Gold. But on the other hand we would still be burning Christians alive, vandalising their institutes, killing female foetuses, hunting the poor widows & forsaken women under the pretext of 'witch hunt'., will be still demanding dowries under the name of bakshis/gift/.

All this seems so incongruous, beyond one's comprehension.

  1. The matter is not related to opinion but it is related to proper investigation, if you have any doubt as a indian citizen you can file appropriate write petition before concern HC against investigation agency. so this is not a matter of public opinion.

  2. Do you even understand how these things happen. Christians move in and convert a weak minded part of a population through gifts and money. Now the newly converted christian's religious duty is to convert more people called "witnessing". These people now go and ridicule the other non-converted peoples beliefs and thus vitiate the atmosphere. Thus people who were previously living peacefully are now fighting on religious grounds. Who is to blame? Problem with christian and muslim faith is they ridicule the other religions beliefs and believe people of other religions are damned unless they convert to their faith. This is what causes friction between communities. Hinduism does not advocate proselytising. Hindus believe in private faith not politically motivated conversions!

And believe me christian schools do try to convert children through underhanded tactics at school. I've studied at a convent and they used to teach christian prayers to us. They teach about Adam and Eve to young impressionable children which has no scientific value. In western countries people are fighting against christian infiltration into education. Yet this goes on in India due to the pseudo secular policies of the UPA. India is a supposed to be a secular country with a majority Hindu population yet a Christian cross was printed on the Indian currency. So, stop your lying about hindu fascism. Sonia Maino Gandhi is an agent of the pope!

Please also tell the people about the Hindu priest who was killed by christians before this incident happened!

  3. Convertions were like part time business for pastors...these missionaries on order from western countries ,luring poor and backward Hindus to raise the Christian population...

There is a limit for every thing...I hope atleast now these convertions will stop or else...these things will happen regularly so that nobody will feel it as a new issue and post this question again...

  4. See we live in a democratic country where rule of law is supreme & being a secular country all religions & religious followers/institutions have right to practice their faith/religion freely. To kill some one is wrong so is to forcibly convert one's religion. If the Christian Nun was burned alive no one will say that was legally right but at the same time any religious leader/follower who forcibly make other person to adopt their religion, here by the term ‘force’ I don't mean physical force only but even taking advantage of one's poverty, offering better way of live, employment & education to children if the person changes his or her religion is also wrong & will be considered misuse of the right to follow one's religion as provided under the Constitution of India. In the name of charity when any one is told to follow certain prior conditions firstly to change their religion followed by other terms & conditions then this is no charity. Charity has to be free, without any prior conditions, yes when Christian Missionaries do such free, unconditional charity for poor, destitute ,diseased people like what mother Teresa did during her lifetime, then not only all the Indians including Indian government but the whole world will praise such person, reward such person with honors such as Noble prize & Bharat Ratna. However when you force poor & destitute people to change their religion for getting employment or money or food or education to children then this will be resisted. All Christians living in India are first Indian then Christians always remember this, the Indian government will give them due respect & allow them all their religious facilities but that will not mean that if few Christian Missionaries want to force mass conversion amongst the poorer section of India population which British Christian Missionaries did during the period of British Raj, &  this will not be resisted now as it was not openly resisted then you are wrong. No doubt the way of resisting such act by killing the Christian Missionaries is absolutely wrong & the resistance should be done in a constitutional & democratic manner only. To convert or adopt or follow any religion is the fundamental right of all the citizen of India in doing so no one can stop him or her , let Christian Missionaries do their charity work as they wish but with one condition that they will not force/guide any one to convert to Christianity, if any person wants to convert or adopt Christian religion he or she has right to do so but this conversion/adoption should be with freewill & consent of such person not impose on him or her by any manner by any one in the manner I have discussed above. Hope this point is clear with you now. As far issues such as killing female foetus, bride burning for the sake of dowry, hunting the poor widows & forsaken women under the pretext of 'Witch Hunt' etc are concerned these are the issues of general social interest where religion of the parties involved is not important as these happen amongst people of any religion not necessarily only amongst Hindus. Even Christian women face such fate due to illiteracy amongst the group of people where all this happen, so please let this be a topic of discussion for another time, here it’s the topic of conversion of religion of one’s religion & it’s after effects.

  5. This is Pakistan.  Muslim nations kill Christian converts.

  6. Orissa which is being ruled by the Biju Patnaik's party

in alliance with the BJP has an egregious reputation in tolerating and condoning the torching of Christians. If

the government officials themselves can be fearlessly

callous like the one you mentioned you can imagine how heartless the CM and his gang would be.And these

political parties and their members style themselves as champions of Hinduism.Nowhere in the Hindu religious

scriptures religious intolerance is preached or advocated. It is these bloodthirsty barbarians who have

in their bigotry, twisted the vedic writings to suit their

logic and interpretation. And they have the gall to call others bigots terrorists.A classic case of the pot calling the kettle black or the other way about ,as you prefer. But then proselytizing is practised by all religions.A very debatable issue.

Mr.Thombre,I was pleasantly surprised to note that you teach English literature which incidentally,I am passionate about.Glad to make your acquaintance.

    Have a Nice Day.

  7. You are only focusing only one side of a problem.  Last day a Hindu sanyasi has been murdered. I think the retaliation of the event lead to the burning of an inmate of a convent.  Conversion is taking place not in famous schools as stated by you. These are taking place by wooing poor people with money and materials.  It is the right of every humans  to believe in any god or religion.  But converting a man from one religion to another by giving money or material  is really a crime, I think.  Christanity is of course a great religion  but how the religion really benefit by attracting poor people lured by money that comes from Western nations ?....

  8. You are right.

Ignorance perpetuates jealousy and feelings of inferiority.

The only purpose of religion is to lay some moral values to live a life of harmony and compassion within the community. If such values are not there then those rules within any religion should be forsaken.

Many of the elite in India would proudly say that they themselves or their children had an English education - why, because they know it opens new doors to a national or international venture into politics, business or any other enviable arena. Hindi also carries a similar stature within India or some allied nations to a certain extent. Christianity brings in some new values and some new measures which may not be consistent with what the Indian mind is attuned to. From whatever I have heard, seen or read is that they are relatively more adoptable to the local cultural values - as a result they are spread all over the globe and have a generally positive and affluent lifestyle acceptance - no wonder the poorer communities are more attracted to them and the richer one are not only jealous but also afraid to death.

  9. The problem is allowed to escalate by the ruling politicians who do not permit the law enforcement agencies to nip such incidents in the bud and send out a salutary warning to perpetrators of such heinous acts.

At Christmas time last year in Orissa, several fundamental outfit goons violently attacked Christian worshippers.  The attackers have not faced any action.   Due to this gross injustice, it was bound to lead to some sort of revenge attack which has now happened in the killing of the VHP leader.

Now the VHP goons are on the rampage, seemingly unchecked by the law enforcement agents who must have received orders from their bosses to "turn a blind eye".

These kind of incidents are happening all over India where politically backed goons ransack, vandalise, attack and at times even murder and rape their  perceived opponents.  No action is taken against the perpetrators because the political powers that be do not permit the police to nip the incidents in the bud.

This is the general trend now, imagine what the future holds for our country if these evil attacks are allowed to go unchecked.

What can we, the ordinary citizens do?

  10. Study Islam without any prejudice, either pro or con. It is important to understand muslims with an open mind, Once you understand what they are promoting, you will understand what you are dealing with.
