Burning back up ps2 games?

i am confused about the term "double layerd" which i have heard you may need, can i just use a normal 4.7gb dvd-r and burn a game onto that or do i need a special dvd-r.

  1. your playstation won't register the game if it is burned on a normal disc. Look at some of your games and you will notice the disc is a little thicker.

    If you want to run copied back up games, you will need to get your playstation chipped. It is a chip that gets soldered in and lets the machine read discs that have been copied.

    Easy to find via google but I am not sure if they are legal. It definitely invalidates the warantee. Backing up games you own is legal in the UK but not in the USA though they were constantly suing manufacturers of the chips.  


  2. Your talking about dual layer dvd's, some of the larger games use them. Swap magic doesn't work at all with these games, you need to either find a DVD5 patch (to convert them to a normal dvd) or find a 2 disc conversion.
