Burning clutch?

I have an automatic transmission and i was told the clutch pack was bad. would i be able to smell is burning? and, would that cause smoking from the transmission when in park?

  1. if its blowing tranny oil, it might be getting on the exhaust and burning.


  2. a bad clutch pack will not give you visible smoke, it would stay in the transmission, You would have 'soft gears' (slipping)so to speak, or nothing at all from the transmission, if you are experiencing smoke and burning smells, you may have a fluid leak, auto transmissions rarely emit smoke, you really have to do them in hardcore to experience that
