Burning oil on atv that has only 600 miles on it

Question

my friend owed me $1500 so he gave me a 2002 honda 450 foreman 4x4 with only 600 mi and 150 hrs. i still took it knowing it was blowing blue smoke out of the exhaust. I was befuddled how with only 600 mi its blowing oil. the atv sat for a year and a half. I know its a oil burn. any suggestions before i tear it down what it might be. thanks

It sounds to me like the rings are worn. I would not expect any bore wear with such little usage.

It looks like the piston rings could have gone on one or more cylinders

If its smoke its the rings. How it happened is irrelevant. A top end on that is not too hard
