I have a movie on my iTunes I want to burn to disc, so I can watch it on the bigger screen. So, I bought some DVD-R discs that says "120 Minutes - 4.6 GB."

The movie I want to burn is 2.3 hours, but only 1.64 GB. Can I still put it on these discs?

  1. You can try this guide to burn itunes videos to DVD, it works well:

  2. Well the thing is that to compress 2.3 hours into 1.64 GB, the makers would have used some form or encoding, possible using DivX or Xvid (the two most popular codecs)

So if you burn this movie as such into DVD-R, make sure that your DVD player supports DivX movies, otherwise it won't play.

Another way is to re-encode this movie into its original format, which can be done using Nero.

  3. yes, but the quality may be poor, it was meant to be viewed on a smaller screen.

  4. yes, you need to do it with 2 steps.

    (1) remove Apple DRM protection from iTunes (M4v, M4p, MP4) legally by converting iTunes to unprotected mp4 format firstly,

    (2) Burn resulting file to DVD.

you can see this guide for help http://www.dvdtoitunes.com/burn-itunes-v...

  5. Yes.

You can always burn files smaller than the total amount available.

The 120 minutes is similar to how cds say 80 mins on a 700 meg cd.  The total file size is what matters.
