Burnt Carpet! how can i remove burns?

Today, ive been playing CoD4 on ps3, and been told by my mom to plug the iron in.

Of course, it doesnt end here, i plugged it in and left it lying heat plate to the floor ... (typical me)

Now, ive left it there for 5 whole mins, and would have left it for more if my mom didnt come in and stop me from playing ...

The burn is hmmm... pretty deep, and i dont want to cut out any patches from the carpet (renting the house, great) is there any way to make it at least better? please help :S

Thanks :S

  1. Are there perhaps carpeted closets?  If so, you might be able to get a patch from a rather invisible place.

I don't think you can fix this without patching.

  2. Small burns work well if you rub a coin over the carpet bit.

But this sounds much worse. Poor you.

  3. I have resolved this problem  for customers on many occasions., but there is no guarantee the fix will look great. The less wear the carpet has the better the fix will be. You will need a piece of carpet from somewhere else, this could be a bit left over, or a cupboard area e.t.c.. Find your local carpet fitter at the back of a local newspaper. Tell the fitter you will need a join where a burn mark sits. It will probably cost you £35+, and there is no guarantee it won't stand out. Sometimes its best to give it a try, other times its false economy, has the carpet got signs of wear (i.e. a year old, or in a heavily walked in area), if so you'd be better off letting the landlord know and not try fixing it. He/she may not be bothered.

  4. cut a potato in half and rub over burn, has worked for me

  5. run

  6. erm...oh dear... there isn't anything you can do except cover it strategically with furniture, a rug, a pair of dirty pants, a magazine etc.....
