I have brand new Calphalon stainless steel non-stick pans I got for my wedding shower. I had some rice in the pan that had already been cooked and was just sitting on the stove. I was trying to boil some water in another pan but turned on the wrong burner. So I burnt the rice and it left black marks on the inside of my pan, and on the outside there is black streaks on the bottom and up kind of on the sides. Can you tell me how I can remove this? Please tell me this can be fixed!

  1. Soak the pan overnight in hot soapy water.  Then while it is still damp, sprinkle a bit of baking soda on it (so it makes a paste).  It is a mild abrasive, and works really well for cleaning marks off of many things.  I had a roommate years ago that burnt rice in one of my pots, and that's how I was able to get the marks out.  Just test a small area first to make sure it is not going to scratch the surface.

  2. There are special abrasive pads for non-stick surfaces at the supermarkets.

Be sure to select the correct one. Over here they are colour coded.

    Green - General

Blue - Non stick (I think)

    Maroon - Stainless Steel.

  3. I use coke works every time

1.Pour some coke into the pot/pan. Enough to cover the bottom about a 1/2 inch.

    2.Turn the burner on high.

    3.The Most Important Step

    DO NOT WALK AWAY!!!!!!

    4. Bring to a boil.

    5. Cut the burner off.

    6. Swish the coke around the pot/pan and pour out.

    7. Clean as you normally would. For extra burnt on stains, let the coke sit longer and use some good old elbow grease when you wash it.

  4. Relax a bit.

Spray the pan with Oven Cleaner and wrap it up in a small trash bag to keep the fumes inside. place outside or in garage overnight.

Rinse it out and wash completely.

This has worked for me on all types of burnt pots and pans. Even a great way to clean grill grates.

    Good luck

  5. Scrub the outside with baking soda or an abrasive cleaner like Comet. You can do the same for the inside or boil it with dish soap or baking soda.
