What's the easiest way you have figured out to be able to burp a baby effectively?

I seem to have a hard time sometimes getting my month old baby to burp and I can try for 20 minutes and he won't but once I set him down to sit up in his bouncer he will spit up

  1. Pat for a minute, then rub; from lower back up to shoulders in one long rub,(several times) then try patting from lower back, moving up to shoulders as you pat

  2. mmm i place my son on my lap upright (sitting position) hold under his neck. around the chin and lightly pat his back - rub it .. pat it .. rub it pat it

dont rush. it will eventually come out

now my son can burp quicker. before it took a while

  3. I always found this worked:

Sit baby up and rub back for a couple of mins

Lie baby down and bring babys leg up to tummy and repeat several times

Sit baby up and rub back again.

Bringing the legs up kind of moves the wind up and makes it easier to pass.

**Warning; this way may cause the wind to pass out the other end**

  4. my baby is the same.  She has got alot better now that she is 3 months but there were days when she was younger when it felt like all I did was try and burp her.  No one way worked best.  I just kept trying all the different ways.  Heres one that I have had some sucess with and my step sis swore by it.  Lie baby flat on their back for a few mins to get let the milk settle.  The bubbles all join into one big bubble when they are lying.  And then slowly raise bubs into sitting poisition and rub his back.

It does get easier! good luck

  5. The only way my daughter would burp is if I sit her on my lap facing me, and pat her back.  She's 8 months old, and thats still the only way that works.

  6. With many babies especially newborns it can take awhile and you have to try different positions.  For my boys usually holding them on my lap sitting them up and holding their head up with one hand under the chin and burping with the other hand seemed to work.  I would pat the back but sometimes that didn't work so I would rub the back or run my finger up and down their spine and eventually they would burp.  It got easier as they got older.

  7. I used to place my kids over my knees and rub and pat their backs, worked everytime.
