Burroughs High boys’ volleyball team sweeps Arcadia in Pacific League match
Volleyball is increasingly becoming a sport that is being taken up enthusiastically by both the boys and the girls at the high school level. Numerous schools have training programs that aim to harness and develop the potential of these young athletes.
The team members of high school teams are given the opportunity to test themselves as they participate in various tournaments. Most of the matches that take place in these competitions do not fail to thrill the audience with the display of superior display
of volleyball playing skills.
One team that fulfils the category of being one of the best at the high school level is the Burroughs boys volleyball team. They won a match in Wednesday in a decisive way by making a clean sweep over Arcadia. The win that the Indians were able to pull off
over their opponents in the Pacific League match was obtained by posting the following final set scores: 25-18, 25-21, 25-17.
With their recent win, the Burroughs has now improved their overall season win record to a total number of 20 victories. They have been able to bag these at the expense of registering an impressively low number of three losses so far. Not only is the Indian’s
overall season record impressive, they have managed to make their league record something to be proud of as well. The number of times that the Burroughs has had wins in league play is four. Whereas the times that the Burroughs had to suffer a defeat are none.
In comparison to the statistics of the Burroughs, both the overall season record and the league statistics of the Arcadia turn pale. Arcadia has been able to secure themselves a win a total number of 10 times in this season so far. The losses that they had
to suffer while making these wins amount to be four until this point. In league play, Arcadia has been able to post a total of two wins. The number of times that they have undergone defeats also equals the same amount.
The first game of the match went smoothly for the Burroughs as they managed to take the lead early on and keep it until the end of the set. Arcadia showed some competition in the second set of the game but they could not bag themselves a win. Capitalizing
on the moment built by winning the first two sets of the match, the Burroughs managed to take the third one as well.
“They were pretty motivated knowing how they played (at Arcadia) was not the way that we play. They realized it and took it to heart and wanted to make sure that the message was sent,” Burroughs coach Joel Brinton said. “Our players were able to pull that
game out despite giving them all those points and they understood that got Arcadia down.”
