  1. Those peek a view burrows would barely fit a hatchling sav.  Use the Zoo Med Excavator Sand.  It holds burrows up and it is pretty much like regular sand other than that.

  2. Here buy this.

    PEEK-A-VIEW BURROW

Recommended for: Leopard geckos, other terrestrial geckos, various small lizards, tarantulas, salamanders and small toads (woodland vivarium),scorpions, millipedes.

    *SMALL $8.99 BUY - **LARGE $15.99 BUY

*SMALL FITS A LARGE FAUNARIUM - **LARGE FITS A 10g Tank

  3. its not the monitor. its the soil mix. your mix does not hold the burrows. start with 50% top soil and 50% play sand and add as much water you need to make a "snow ball". this is a very basic/ not the best monitor substarte mix but its a good start.here is a link all about monitor substrate choiceshttp://proexotics.com/FAQ2.html#19

all these other answers are wrong.

  4. You can't really do much to help him, he is learning to make his burrows, if you really insist on helping him, then you may wet the sand but take him out before you do this, wet it and let it dry for a little, then it should be more steady.
