I'm looking to buy a Burton Custom snowboard bu don't know if i should buy it now or wait a year or 2. Since i am only 15 and still growing i dont know if it is worth the investment of $500 only to have to give it away, and buy a new board. Should i buy a slightly larger one now or wait a year and buy the new edition then. I am an intermediate- advanced rider. I can ride all trails with ease except for double black diamond which is a little dificult. i also do some park riding ( jumps and rails.)

  1. If i was you i would buy a second hand Custom but one that is the right size for you. I dont think its a good idea to grow into a board, as for a long time it wont be the right size for you and it will probably affect your riding and enjoyment. If you are a bit big for it in say a year or so then sell it and buy another board. When you are sure you have stopped growing then treat yourself to a brand new board, Good Luck with the riding.

  2. board technology changes so fast that the board that is for sale now won't be the one you buy three years from now. Get the board that fits now and spend the next two summers working to get a board in a few years.

  3. Dude i have a custom from 2003  and its so so sick , I ride big park and backcountry and the custom is the best,   Get last years or even  a coupe years ago. That way you save money and still get a sick sick deck, No need to buy the new one dude

  4. If you are just going for a vacation, just rent a board from the shop (not at the resort).  If you ride more than 20 days or so, I would by one b/c you can turn around and sell it.  I have a burton custom, but it is an all mountain board - I'm 28 and will never be in the park :P  So you should get a freestyle board if you will be in the park.  You know, the local snowboard shop here does this deal where you pay $50 to demo as many boards as you want in a 5 day period and then you can try a bunch of differant boards to decide which one you like best.  Then they will apply that $$$ towards a new board that you buy from them.
