Burton est technology?

anyone tried new Burton est technology on their boards and bindings? what do you think of it?

It's a cool idea but I don't think it's worth it.

This is why:

If you get an est, you have to use Burton bindings(either est bindings or other burton bindings with the included baseplates). You can't put Burton baseplates in other brands of bindings which is why you need a pair of Burton bindings.  So now you've been forced into buying Burton bindings which are pretty good, but you may not like the way they feel. Burton makes their bindings so that no other brand of boots fits nicely into them(other boots will work, but will not sit very well in them). Now you've most likely been forced into buying Burton boots, which in my opinion are not good at all.  I think they are poorly made and not comfortable at all. I think the liner is too thin and poorly integrated into the outer boot.

So basically, Burton likes to scam consumers who don't know any better into dropping lot's of cash and buying a full Burton set up.

That's not to say they don't make good boards.  They make great boards.  In fact, I ride last year's un..inc(which is also designed to only use Burotn bindings) and I love it.  But, I managed to figure out a way to turn the baseplates of my Salomon bindings so that I could mount them and then wear my super comfy pair or Salomon boots(I got arround the system).

But now, with this est system(which is a pretty cool idea) they've eliminated the chance of getting arround their system of forcing you into a full Burton set up.

But hey, if you really like a full Burton set up, then this est system would be really cool.

My boyfriend got the est board and bindings this year and he LOVES it. He tried it out last year and had to get a whole set up, which was expensive. He wears 32 boots and they work well with his setup so I don't think you have to get burton boots with it. I did a few runs on his board and it was nice but I would never pay that much to get that. Personally, I'd wait until the prices on the est go down next season or so.
