Question:

Bus/Rail Pass for Dublin?

My husband and I are traveling to Dublin (hotel in Clontarf) at the end of May for 5 days. One of those days (middle) we're taking an excursion out of Dublin. Would it be worth our while to pick up a 3 or 7 consecutive day Bus/Rail pass?

  1. Depends on how often you will use it! Have a look at the cost http://www.dublinbus.ie/fares_and_ticket...

You can also get a bus handy pack for about €18 - it contains 5 one day tickets.

You should be aware that Dublin Bus operates an exact change only system - having established the appropriate fare from the driver for the journey you propose to take, you insert the exact fare in coins only into the top of the fare box.

A ticket will then be issued by the driver once he is satisfied that the correct fare has been deposited.

If you have to deposit more than the exact fare, the driver will issue a passenger refund ticket. This, together with your travel ticket which must be presented at Dublin Bus, 59 Upper O’Connell Street, in order to claim a refund of the overpayment.

    Notes are not accepted

No change is given by driver or machine

Driver is not allowed under any circumstances to handle cash
