Question:

Bus commute to work?

I just got a job in San Diego, but the problem is, I live really far away(about 40 minutes when driving)...and my car is dying on me. If I take the bus lines, it will take me approximately 2 hrs and 30 minutes to get to work. Then I would have to take the bus home. I can't afford to move at the moment, and this is a really good job opportunity for me. Should I just stick it out and ride the bus for that long everyday, or is that just crazy? 2 1/2 hrs each way...

  1. Yes, check with co-workers, neighbors and friends to see if you can form a car pool.  Check your State or City and County website's Department of Transportation section to see if there is  info on car pools.  Here on Oahu there's a company called VanPool Hawaii that matches riders based on time and locations.  You might find something similar in your area.

  2. I would ride the bus each way to begin with, at least until you can sort your car out. Have you tried car sharing with a work colleague - ask them - new job new friends! As you said it is a really good job opportunity for you, don't let the bus get you down and I am sure it will only be for a short while.
