I am traveling to Peru and will be arriving at the international airport in Lima, but will then need to get to Arequipa by bus. Are there any terminals IN the airport, or what is the closest one that I could get to? Also, what is a close hotel to stay the night in Lima? Thanks!

  1. There's a hotel on the Airport, a Costa del Sol Ramada. However, there are no bus stations on the airport.

Get a taxi from the hotel and ask them to take you to Ormeño (Av. Javier Prado Este 1059,  in the district of San Isidro) their phone is 472-1710. You can also try Cruz del Sur which is very close to Ormeño (Av. Javier Prado Este 1109, San Isidro). Those are the safest in terms of the maintenance of their buses and the driving record of their drivers.

A loose question: Why don't you fly to Arequipa? According to LAN it is just a little over US$100 round trip

  2. I second the suggestion to fly.  That way, you wouldn't have to leave the airport.  Although the bus would be cheaper, it is a big hassle to get to the bus station and a VERY long trip--fourteen hours and much of that is through desert or semi-desert so it isn't very scenic.

  3. The trip is currently 16 hours to Arequipa, you're better off flying, taxi's will charge you tons if you don't speak Spanish as will the hotels.

  4. I think this is your first international travel, so you have no experience. Lima is a large city, so...there are many hotels, as they are in new York or Toronto. If you speak English or Spanish you can get any information. Why go to Arequipa by bus? Unless you are short or $. Go by plane (only 1 hour and not expensive.) I recomend you strongly to tale a plane. NIce trip!

  5. Hello friend.  Mi name´s Adan and I live in Lima Peru.  There are not any terminals in the Jorge Chavez airport but there is  bus terminals to Arequipa near airport At 15 minutes for long.   Inside the airport there are cars taxi but usually They´re expensive to tourist people.

There are hotels in Lima city and costs between 15 dollars and 30 dollars to day.

I hope can help you abaut some question that you have about Lima and Peru,  only I´m learning English and I´d like practicing English with you because here anyone speak English.

My email is   adan_21_8@hotmail.com    if you wish taht I guide you in Lima and visitg museums and so you teach me English .

    See you next time

  6. I have been on several different buses going from Lima to Arequipa (I lived in Arequipa for 2 years and made frequent trips via bus). I perfer Ormeño. Cruz de Sur isn't too bad either. Try and stick to some of the companies that others have listed. If not, you'll be stuck in a bus with no heat/air or bathroom. Be prepared for about a 13-16 hour trip. My suggestion is to take a bus at night that way you will have time to sleep (or try) and you will arrive in the morning. You might want to bring a light throw blanket and small pillow to bring with you on the bus for comfort's sake.

Try and get off the bus as soon as you can when you arrive to make sure that no one walks off with your luggage that you put under the bus. Hold on to the tickets that they give you for your luggage...you will need that when you get there.

  7. I agree with most people. You'd better take another plane to Arequipa. If you stay the night in Lima, you will end up spending the money you have saved in the flight. Also, Lima is kind of dangerous these days, so be careful if you decide to take a bus. I don't want to scare you, but sometimes, thieves break into the bus (watch the news).

If you decide to take a bus to Arequipa, these are useful tips:

    - Be sure to take only yellow taxis at the airport. Please don't leave the airport since the surrounding neighborhood is kind of unsafe.

    - There are many hotels where you can stay, but I suggest Posada del Inca San Isidro. Check this website (it also has English page)

    http://www.peru-travel.info/posadadelinc...

The price includes transportation to the airport.

    - The best bus terminal is Cruz del Sur. http://www1.cruzdelsur.com.pe/

It's located near the hotel, you can take a taxi to get there

    - It's important to learn some words in Spanish!!!

    That's it!

    Have a good trip!!!

  8. Google it

  9. Tell a taxi to take you to Miraflores and you will see from there.

I think there is an hotel in the airport but I am not sure.

  10. Can't be of much help with this one as I never take the bus. Looking at map, that is a long way from Lima.

Anyways, hope the website below might help.

As far as a hotel, I always go to Miraflores using one of the inside the baggage terminal taxi sevices. Safer. We stay at Las Palmas a block away from Kennedy park. Nice, clean and approx $25 a night.

    Enjoy your trip.
