Bus ride to chichen itza?

How long is the bus ride to chichen itza from Cancun. How expensive is it. I am thinking about going there and coming back the same day. I am debating whether or not that is a good idea or if it is better to stay in the colonial city for a day before I head back to Cancun.

  1. I believe it was about 2 hrs and worth the trip,  when will you ever have the chance again?

  2. I wish I knew and I wish I were there.

  3. It Is Like 2 Hours Take The Bus And Ask The People At Your Hotel They Will Tell You How Much It Is But It Is Worth It Go Early Me And My Hubby Went Really Early We Where Their Like By 9:00Am And Did Not See Every Thing HAVE FUN!!!

  4. i do recommend the bus ride. it's a good hour or so. i do recommend you eat something before you go cause you can get pretty tired with all the walking you will do. there is really no need to stay out there over night, there are plenty of tours that will have you back to can cun the same day

  5. The bus ride non-stop would be about 2 to 2.5 hours. There's lots of day tours from Cancun. Many tours split up the ride there with another stop which will allow you to see more than just Chichen Itza. And most tours include lunch since it's a long day.

If you have a package vacation at a hotel in Cancun and have already paid for the week I'd just look for one of the many day tours to Chichen Itza.

If you are already planning to tour around a bit then you might consider a night in either the Colonial City of Valladolid (Still about an hour from Chichen Itza) or staying nearer the ruins at Chichen Itza since I believe they have a light and sound show at night. (Though I could be wrong about that). Again if your plan is to tour around consider these sites as well: Ruins of Ek Balam north of Valladolid, Dzitnup Cenote, near Valladolid, the Balankanche Cave and the eco-archeological Park Ik Kil (with the Ik Kil Cenote) both of the last two are very close to Chichen Itza.

Not sure if car rental is an option you're considering but the toll road between Cancun and Chichen Itza is great, though very pricey. Between Cancun and Chichen Itza the toll is about $19 USD each way, add another $11 USD if you plan to continue onto Merida and sites like Uxmal. Just so you know to factor that into your calculations. Car rental BTW can be the cheapest way to see the ruins if you can split the cost with a full car but packaged tour is likely easier/more convenient.

    Enjoy your trip.

  6. Hi,

Don't miss your chance to visit the Mayan Ruins at Chichen Itza. The bus ride should not take more than 2-1/2 hours from the downtown bus station in Cancun. Located at the intersection of avenidas Tulum and Uxmal. There are two bus lines ADO and Linea UNO both are first-class coach service. The cost for a round trip ticket should be no more than $32.00-US.

If you can spent the night the place to stay is Mayaland Resort. It is located right at the Chichen Itza Ruins and the resort has its own entrance and if you stay at the resort admission is free, a plus is the night show that explains a lot about the ruins. So you will have two days and one night you'll really enjoy the stay. You can't really enjoy the Mayan Site in one day.

NOTE: All Mexican Banks charge a 5% fee for the use of plastic. Bring Travelers Checks and or cash and you'll save a little money.

    Hope this helps.
