Busanan Ongbumrungpan tames Hsiao Ma Pai in Women’s Singles semi-finals – Macau Open Update

Thailand’s Busanan Ongbumrungpan performed beyond expectations and outshined Hsiao Ma Pai in the semi-final round of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on December 1, 2012.
This Women’s Singles encounter concluded in just two games as the victorious shuttler locked the honour by registering a 21-11 and 21-7 margin.
Busanan looked at top of her game in both segments of the showdown as she took just 35 minutes to seal a splendid straight-set victory.
On the other hand, the Taipei campaigner failed to revive her lost touch and crashed out of this GP Gold event in a disgraceful manner.
Things went out of control for Hsiao Ma immediately in the beginning of first set as she lost five valuable points in a row.
This deficit proved a final blow for her as she could not rise from the dust until the game point situation.
The Thai shuttler capitalised her lead and prevailed in the next couple of rallies without any interruption.
Busanan, who holds seventh spot in the tournament ranking, finished first half of the set with an indomitable total of 11 and put her competitor under huge pressure.
She resumed her campaign with an intensive attack and widened the gap immediately after the interval.
Though, Hsiao Ma strived hard to catch her rival but she could not match her speed and gave up this futile chase.
Meanwhile, Busanan strengthened her grip with 18-8 and then served notice of her supremacy with a winning margin of 21-11.
The second set of the match was also dominated by the Thai female campaigner as she showed consistency in her performance and tipped the scale in her favour.
She made her intentions clear by claiming eight points in a row and then mounted pressure with a respectable score of 11.
Busanan did not lose focus at any stage of the game and cruised to victory with great ease. She established an unassailable lead of ten points in third quarter of the set and then locked the honour with 21-7 margin.
This win paved her path to the final round of this prestigious event and now she is scheduled to meet Yu Sun of China.
