Bush Whitney claims the Grade OR New Year Stayers at Henlow over 692 metres
The Grade OR New Year Stayers race was held at Henlow on 5 January, 2012, at about 629 metres. Six greyhounds, Bush Whitney, Aldataro Lass, Darket Misty, Swift Maldini, Romeo Explosion and Coolavanny Fairy ran the race.
Bush Whitney finished first in the race, after breaking from trap 6. She completed the distance in 43.42 seconds.
Right from the outset of the race, she seemed to be in good form, as she gave her all throughout the race.
However, there was very close competition between Bush Whitney and Aldataro Lass, the dog who finished second, but alas, the b***h outclassed all.
It was the 19th race overall and the first one at this category for Bush Whitney, who started her career on 27 May, 2011.
Whelped in September 2009, the b***h is trained by K J Findlay, who has been satisfied with her performances so far.
Aldataro Lass, the second to finish the race, broke from trap 1. She ran well and reached the finish line in 43.55 seconds.
She ran fast enough to catch Bush Whitney, but failed to gain lead despite performing well overall.
Starting her career on 14 November, 2009, Aldataro Lass finished second for the first time in this category.
She has run a number of races, mostly finishing with first or second positions. Trained by M A Wallis, the b***h was whelped in February 2008.
The third top finisher of the race was Darket Misty, who completed the race in 43.96 seconds, breaking from trap 5.
Throughout the race, she remained somewhat ahead of the rest of the lot, but she did not seem to even try catching up with the eventual runner up and winner.
Her efforts seemed to be self-centered, focusing on her performance solely, rather than going to bag the race. As a whole, her running was good, pleasing the trainer, A P Tuffin.
Making her debut on 16 October, 2010, the b***h has also gained top positions in this category at least twice.
The fourth position in the New Year Stayers was held by D A Manning's Swift Maldini, who finished in 44.08 seconds, after breaking from trap 3.
G L Coney's Romeo Explosion finished fifth in the race by reaching the finish line in 44.20 seconds, starting from trap 4
Coolavanny Fairy was the last one to reach the finish line. She broke from trap 2 and covered the distance in 44.31 seconds. Whelped in June 2009, the b***h is trained P W Young.
As a whole, the New Year Stayers was an amazing event.The winner bagged a purse worth £175, while the other five participants were rewarded £20.
