Evgeny Bushmanov has analyzed the Russian Premier League tie between Zenit St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow, and has backed Spartak Moscow’s decision to sack Unai Emery
The latest round of Russian Premier League between Zenit St. Petersburg and CSKA Moscow at Petrovsky stadium on Monday ended in a 1-1 draw after both the parties failed to find the winning goal in regulatory time.
And there were a handful of spectators in the stands to see the much anticipated league tie between the two top Russian outfits.
And it is not because the fans did not want to come to the St. Petersburg club’s home stadium, the defending league champions have been penalized by the Russian football union to play the home matches without any crowd for an unspecified
period.
Zenit have been penalized after their fan caused serious injury to Dynamo Moscow’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Anton-Shunin-c6283. The 25-year-old was hit by a firecracker while he was standing steadily between the posts.
Consequently, the match officials had to abandon the proceedings and the opposing goalkeeper was immediately taken to the nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Evgeny Bushmanov has lamented the incidence and urged the St. Petersburg club to be more organized and disciplined in the near future.
“Zenit created more chances and had more ball possession as compared to CSKA. But they failed to win.”
“I think playing without audience made the match uncomfortable and boring at times. The game was more like a meeting at the training camp in the offseason. I am afraid that I cannot play in a similar atmosphere," the CIS cup winner
was quoted as saying.
Bushmanov went on to insist that Spartak Moscow made the right decision to sack Unai Emery despite signing a two-year contract with the 41-year-old Spanish tactician six months ago.
Emery’s short tenure at Luzhniki stadium came to an end after the Red-Whites humiliating 1-5 defeat against Dynamo on Sunday. Valery Karpin has been appointed the Russian outfit’s interim boss until the end of the season.
Bushmanov admitted that the Spartachi needed to make a change in order to turn the tables.
