Business Insurance Liability and Medical?

I am interested in starting a business similar to a Temp agency and I am wondering what type of Business Insurance I need to get. (in Ontario Canada). There will not be any company vehicles.

Also I would like an explanation as to the costs of Medical Insurance for employees, in general what the costs for Company Medical insurance is and how it is calculated and paid?

Are there any good companies to shop at? I was dealing with Great West Life insurance through my former job but I did not understand how it worked or how it was paid other than my small portion.

  1. You may want purchase some P&C insurance for your office.  Your landlords insurance wouldn't cover theft or damaged equipment (ie: fire)

As for medical/health insurance, depends on if you are purchasing Group or Individual Insurance.  Most offer Group plans, but only a few offer individual plans.  An Insurance Advisor can help determine your needs (Group vs Individual) and give you pricing on the various plans.  There are many good companies including GWL, Manulife, Desjardins, Sun Life, Standard Life, etc etc

  2. In Canada  you might look at GreenShield.ca for Medical Coverage for Employees.

Sbinformation.about.com has good information on Business Liability Insurance. see links below.

For those employers in the US Looking for a solution to the high cost of employee health insurance see OnTheJobBenefits.com for a fresh solution.
