Business License v. Zoning

If I own property zoned MU-1 (meaning that I can run an office out of it), can the city still deny me a business license to be -- for example -- and accountant in that office? I'm in Florida.

  1. MU is mobile homes.  THE city is not likely the one's stopping you; it is the mobile home community; the citizens often do not want anyone

running a biz from a mobile home.  IF it is the city, they are likely

very particular about this specific type of zoning.  If you think about it,

even parking for relatives is difficult in a mhp; i graduated from HS

    while living in a MHP!

I suggest I help you find a very very inexpensive office where you can

work a few hours a week and not frustrate the zoning people!

  2. You need to find out exactly what is and is not allowed in the MU-1 zoning.  If, as the other poster said, it's for mobile home parks, there may be CC&R's in the park that don't allow an office of any sort.

If the zoning allows an accountancy office, there should be no reason for the city or county to deny you a business license.  The city or county could put restrictions on the permit, like how many customers per hour or how many you can have or your staff, or require a certain number of parking spaces based on square footage or whatever formula they use, etc.
