Im looking to leave my current job where I get paid on a monthly basis. Im not sure if I'll be able to give a full months notice..or even if I have to... Will a two weeks notice do or should I be giving a months notice since I get paid monthly?

  1. Secure your next job before giving your two weeks. But yes... give your company at least two weeks (if those two weeks come at the end of the month then YEAH \o/).

Also inform your future employer that you must give your current employer two weeks notice. Then on a key note ask if it would be possible to start sooner if your current employer terminates you prior to the two weeks.

  2. If you're considered an at will employee, with no employment contract, you owe your current employer no notice whatsoever.

You see, it's now to the point where you're expendable & if the company wants to sack you without notice, that's their prerogative.  & in return for the not so benevolent treatment, you can also pick up & go at anytime.

Of course, it's a nice touch if you give proper notice.  And if you're leaving on good terms, so much the better.
