http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sergio-Busquets-c33048, has stated that his team’s lead of the Primera Division is not decisive and the title race is not over yet.
After Real Madrid’s 2-2 draw with Espanyol, it was a chance for the Blaugrana to further consolidate their hold on top of the table. They managed to do that as they dismantled Atletico Madrid by 4-1 at the Camp Nou.
Busquets believes the 13-point lead Barca have now over their arch-rivals, Real Madrid, does not mean that the title race is over yet. However, he vowed his side will not let their lead slip up.
He is aware of his team’s advantage, but knows that there is still a long way to go and that in football you cannot take things for granted.
“It’s a very good lead, but there’s a lot of Liga left and we can’t rule out Atletico or Real Madrid.”
Regardless, the defensive-midfielder stated that it is highly unlikely that his team will let go of their hold on top of the table and stressed on the importance of focusing on one match at a time.
They are now just focused on their next match with Real Valladolid.
“[But], there’s no way we’d allow this lead to slip, we can only focus on the match against Valladolid so that we can go to the Christmas break with a certain degree of tranquillity.”
The destroyer had an impressive game last night at the Camp Nou as he scored a goal for his side.
The 24-year-old explained how he managed to find the back of net.
“I knew that the defender and the keeper would go to the ground, that’s why I waited to shoot.”
Finally, the Spanish international is urging everyone at the club to keep their eyes on the ball and stay on this same level.
“It’s important that we stay at this level.”
Barca’s unbeaten run in the Primera Division still continues. They have only dropped points in the 2-2 draw against Real Madrid.
Currently, they are at the top of the table and nine points clear off of second-placed Atletico Madrid.
