Barcelona football club were delivered a hefty blow as they lost manager Tito Vilanova to an un-expected illness.
Tito Vilanova had taken up the reins at the Catalan club following the stepping down of former boss Pep Guardiola at the end of the previous season.
Vilanova had so far led Barcelona in an exceptional manner as they are top of La Liga standings with a 6 point lead over second placed Atletico Madrid.
The Catalans also have a massive 13 point advantage over fierce rivals Real Madrid and already looked set to claim the prestigious La Liga crown this season.
However, the Camp Nou outfit were served with a bitter blow as manager Tito Vilanova was reported to have encountered the same cancer, which occurred 12 months back.
Vilanova was immediately hospitalised and has been operated for the tumour on Thursday morning.
The Catalan board have announced that the surgery has gone according to plans and the manager will soon be back resuming his duties.
For the time being, Barcelona have appointed Jordi Roura as the acting manager of the team and he will be playing in-charge for his first game against Real Valladolid on Saturday.
